Professor Uhlin-Hansen is an expert in forensic pathology. He is involved in Theme D, substudy 1: Death certificates in Norway and Russia; differences in criteria for cause of death determination? This substudy is designed to explore the hypothesis that different criteria are used in Russia and Norway by forensic pathologists to determine cause of death in cases of sudden non-violent deaths. If so, this could partly explain the reported higher number of deaths due to cardiovascular disease in Russia compared to Norway.
